Lose Those Fats!

Last week I decided to start a weight lost program. The program is called The Right Approach.
I have been willing to do this many months ago. Even though some told me that I didn't need much weight loss, BUT, since the company has launched its program. I thought at least I need to go and experience it.

Saturday, I sat down with Ricky and go through my habits. I got lots of ck ck ck from him. Well.. what do you expect? I LOVE muisjes!!
"Need to cut down the muisjes, Ve!"
"Only 5 spoons of rice!"
"Exercise?"
oh-kay! oh-kay!

He wrote down all my do-s and dont-s. I then decided to start Monday.
So, this has been already my second day. Quite exciting. Still tries to cut off those muisjes that I love most.

Last night I measured my body, and these are some of the results:

Visceral Fat - 4% (low/normal health risk: 1-9) is the fat that surrounds the vital organs on the trunk/stomach area of the body. So, high visceral fat levels increase the risk of high blood pressure, heart disease and diabetes
Even though consider low health risk, I still need to go to 1-2%

Body Age is 38!!
Oh my.. older then my actually age.
This indicates that even am not 38 years, but my body's condition is like a 38 years old.

BMI - 22% (acceptable: 25-31%)
is a measurement of body fat based on weight and height that applies to both adult men and women.

Oh gosh, at the edge already!

BMR -
1296 kcal,
is the amount of energy expanded while at rest. Higher BMR may indicate better energy expenditure (fat burning).

I need to exercise more!!

Well, need to do something about this.
Healthy food, healthy diet, healthy exercise.

Stay tuned for the updates!

which do you prefer?

A friend forward me this email..

I would rather live my life as if there is a God,

and die to find out there isn't,

than...

live my life as if there isn't,

and die to find out there is.

Hello Jakarta!

Arriving back home was a bit chaos. Why?
First, the plane was a bit delayed. And I need to be at Ira's wedding later at 7pm!! Imagine that.
Then, to make it worse.. I need to top up my jakarta number. And to add to it, my battery's flat. I gotta be careful using my phone. So, last choice is to still use my SG number, but only for sms. How ridiculous is that! I got local number!!

BUT
another good story is, I make new friends with the couple sitting next to me. Husband and wife, have their own biz, and got twin boys!! So cute.

Back to arriving in Jakarta.
As suspected. The flight did land late. And then, I need to wait for my luggage. I regret changing my suit case, since now I need to pay close attention to every single bag that passes me by. A lot of BLACK suit case. Makes me even late.

I leave the airport, exactly 7pm.
What the heck. Still need to catch up, and go to Pd.Indah.

So, dropped by in Karet. Pick up the easiest dress I can get, then off to the wedding reception. Luckily, the crowd is still there: Ajung and Heny.

And, as usually...
Chizzzzzzz

Meeting Saras :)

After all the rarara in the morning. I did decide not to attend any service. God understands la! :) I did already make appointment with Hans and Gita to meet them @1am anyway. So, I sms Hans letting him know that I canceled my going to church, and suggest to meet up earlier, since I need to be at Changi at 3pm.

Settled then!
Meeting point at Raffles City. They are meeting some Indonesian friends -turns out to be Iwan's sister in law, for lunch.

So then, I marched myself to exchange some SGD in Lucky Plaza -hope it's a good deal, then walked myself towards City Hall. Half way, I decided to take the MRT anyway, just to save some time.

I meet up with Hans Gita and Saras in Marks and Spencer, Raffles City. We just walked and chit chat along the way, heading supermarket to get Saras' food. Well, she can't order any meal later in the restaurant, so that's why!

Didn't have time to chat much. I need to go -already 1pm, and they need to meet their friends.
We took pic - of course! And i bid them good bye!

Nice meeting you all!

Decide!

The plan was to wake up early, go to both either New Creation Church or City Harvest Church -haven't decided yet, and then attend the 11am service in Tiberias, since the family is a member there.

So, I started making calls and sms-ing my Singaporean friends to find out about the schedule. I know Kyra will save me one seat if I decided to join her in New Creation. Well, that's settled. But then I really wanna try the City Harvest Church. So, I called Derek -hm. he's in JB, and not familiar with the schedule. Suggested me to join the 5pm service with him and his wife. Text Steven, Mary's husband. He gave me the EXPO schedule. So far! And it's started 10am. Passed already!

On the other hand, turns out don't know whether the 11am plan is still going on. Liza is still sleeping -tooth ache i was informed.
Olav now, well... haven't decided yet. Still thinking between 11am or 2pm.

Ugh!
Decide on my own is better -won't attend any.

One Ain't Just Enuf!

Today's plan was actually just spend the rest of the day in Park Mall. But then I was surprise when I arrived there. Showcased is closed very early! They started putting off the lights at 4pm!! Could you imagine that?? In Jakarta, everything ended around 8pm, even 9pm. Makes me appreciate the Jakarta staffs more. Anyway, like Aiza said, "Welcome to Singapore!"

Then, how? What's next?
Called Hans, but then he and Gita got other plans.
Lily? Well, seemed still sleepy when I called her. OK, just delivered her 3rd child. Understandable if she still has less sleep..

"What do you wanna do, Verena?"
"Don't know!"

So, at 430pm we just took off. And it's raining, even just small drops. Making our way towards Orchad. Dropping by to some biz opportunity exhibition. Make new friends with an Indonesia guy. Great, got new contacts!

Then, strolling our way again, still heading no where.

"What do you wanna do?"
"Hmm. How about get some brownies!!
"Are you craving for it?"
"Not really. But I haven't had it for quite some time. So, how about now? Yummy!"

So this time, at least there's a destination: Takashimaya Food Hall, Ngee Ann City. Get my brownies!

When we arrived there, the food hall was packed! Great timing, it is!! But then luckily we manage to get space near to fountain to rest a bit.

Then we couldn't just stopped with having brownies. We had afternoon tea of course, just to take off the sweets from the brownies. And ending it with a taste of Roti Prata with sausages filling. Interested. And of course delicious.

Well you see, we could've just stopped after the brownies...

But one seem like just ain't enuf!
Arrgh.. am full (again!)
-still looks happy though :)
Say, Chizzzzzzzzz... -oooh no, not another dish? kidding!

He's One Year Seven Month

Oliver has grown up! I can't even hold him. Too heavy. He likes to run around the house -like any little kid.

Right now, he can't speak properly yet. A few only words he likes to shout out are:
Yah!
-copying his dad, and "Bye!"

Even though, he loves to sing -no words one, and dance :)

He always moves his hands, when they sing the Itsy Bitsy Spider song..
And of course the famous twinkle twinkle on the Disney Channel

His favourite toys is his Winny The Pooh drum, which the parents bought a few months ago. Every times he sees the drum, most likely he will go bum! bang! with it. Hehehe.

Changing The World?

Gandhi's Top 10 Fundamentals for Changing the World

"You must not lose faith in humanity. Humanity is an ocean; if a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty."

Mahatma Gandhi needs no long introduction. Everyone knows about the man who lead the Indian people to independence from British rule in 1947. So let's just move on to some of my favourite tips from Mahatma Gandhi.

1. Change yourself.

"You must be the change you want to see in the world."

If you change yourself you will change your world. If you change how you think
then you will change how you feel and what actions you take. And so the world
around you will change. And the problem with changing your outer world without
changing yourself is that you will still be you when you reach that change you
have strived for. You will still have your flaws, anger, negativity,
self-sabotaging tendencies – in short, your ego. Since your ego loves to divide
things, to find enemies and to create separation it may start to try to create
even more problems and conflicts in your life and world.

2. You are in control.

"Nobody can hurt me without my permission."

What you feel and how you react to something is always up to you. You can choose
your own thoughts, reactions and emotions to pretty much everything. You don't
have to freak out, overreact of even react in a negative way. And as you realize
that no-one outside of yourself can actually control how you feel you can start
to incorporate this thinking into your daily life and develop it as a thought
habit. A habit that you can grow stronger and stronger over time. Doing this
makes life a whole lot easier and more pleasurable.

3. Forgive and let it go.

"The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong."
"An eye for eye only ends up making the whole world blind."

Fighting evil with evil won't help anyone. Forgiving and letting go of the past
will do you and the people in your world a great service. If you don't forgive
then you let the past and another person to control how you feel. By forgiving
you release yourself from those bonds. And then you can focus totally on, for
instance, the next point.

4. Without action you aren't going anywhere.

"An ounce of practice is worth more than tons of preaching."

Taking action is hard and difficult. Preaching or reading or studying endlessly
gives you the feeling of moving forward. To really get where you want to go
and to really understand yourself and your world you need to practice. Books
can mostly just bring you knowledge. You have to take action and translate
that knowledge into results and understanding. 5. Take care of this moment.
"I do not want to foresee the future. I am concerned with taking care of the
present. God has given me no control over the moment following."

Why? Well, when you are in the present moment you don't worry about the next
moment that you can't control anyway. And the resistance to action that comes
from you imagining negative future consequences - or reflecting on past failures
- of your actions loses its power. And so it becomes easier to both take action
and to keep your focus on this moment and perform better.

6. Everyone is human.

"I claim to be a simple individual liable to err like any other fellow mortal. I own, however, that I have humility enough to confess my errors and to retrace my steps."
"It is unwise to be too sure of one's own wisdom. It is healthy to be reminded that the strongest might weaken and the wisest might err."

When you start to make myths out of people – even though they may have produced
extraordinary results – you run the risk of becoming disconnected from them. You
can start to feel like you could never achieve similar things that they did
because they are so very different. So it's important to keep in mind that
everyone is just a human being no matter who they are. It's important to
remember that we are all human and prone to make mistakes. Be able to see with
clarity where you went wrong and what you can learn from your mistake.

7. Persist.

"First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win."

Be persistent. In time the opposition around you will fade and fall away. And
your inner resistance and self-sabotaging tendencies that want to hold you back
and keep you like you have always been will grow weaker. Find what you really
like to do. Then you'll find the inner motivation to keep going, going and
going.

8. See the good in people and help them.

"I look only to the good qualities of men. Not being faultless myself, I won't presume to probe into the faults of others."

"Leadership means getting along with people."

There is pretty much always something good in people. And things that may not be
so good. But you can choose what things to focus on. And when you see the good
in people it becomes easier to motivate yourself to be of service to them. By
being of service to other people, by giving them value you not only make their
lives better. Over time you tend to get what you give. So you, create an upward
spiral of positive change that grows and becomes stronger.

9. Be congruent, be authentic, be your true self.

"Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony."

"Always aim at complete harmony of thought and word and deed. Always aim at purifying your thoughts and everything will be well."

I think that one of the best tips for improving your social skills is to behave
in a congruent manner and communicate in an authentic way. People seem to really like authentic communication. And there is much inner enjoyment to be found when your thoughts, words and actions are aligned. You feel powerful and good about yourself.

10. Continue to grow and evolve.

"Constant development is the law of life, and a man who always tries to maintain his dogmas in order to appear consistent drives himself into a false position."

You can pretty much always improve your skills, habits or re-evaluate your
evaluations. You can gain deeper understanding of yourself and the world.

From Henrik Edberg's book on Personal Development published on May, 2008.

A Night in the train

Actually I didn't plan to head Singapore Tuesday nite. My plan was leaving earlier on Monday night.
But then I found out that Aiza's heading back Tues night, taking night train. So, I decided to tag along with her.

The ticket fare was not that expensive, only RM38. And each of us get our own bed to lie down. If you are thinking, we got our own compartment, WRONG!

There were these 2 stories beds, all lining up. We both took the upper bed, quite nice. Private enough. The cool thing is, even for the upper bed, they hang a small net pouch so we can put our shoes/slippers there. Neat ha? But Aiza said, this pic looks like she's lying in the hospital hehehe.
Anyway, one disadvantage about this trip is only it takes almost half a day to travel. But then, the experience was worth it.

Thanks
Aiza!

Last Day in KL

As usual what every one's doing in the last day..
Prepare our luggage while waiting for Siamy to wake up. Hehehe

Every thing's done.
(Bye bye aniek!)

Heading towards Siamy's new apartment.

It's just near by where they are living now. Not far from Kelana Jaya. Another two u-turns from Kelana Jaya LRT Station (better write this down!). The place is called Sterling Apt.

And man, it's huge!

Her unit itself is still under renovation though. I think about 5 rooms and 3 toilets? I guess she did count her guests when she decided to get that unit :) thanks upline!

After she showed us around, we waited outside. And since we've got nothing to do, me and Aiza decided to pose a little here and there on the outside. We were imagining some-A-day, having a barbeque's party in the hall area, just outside the unit. Fun!

But then, times up.
Everything is by the clock.
Tick .. Tock.. Tick.. Tock..

Heading Darby Park now.

We arrived there just before 12pm. Siamy left us for a meeting with the other leaders. Before that, she introduced me to a BD from Thailand, who just came back in the biz. Need a lot of catching up to do, sir! So I helped him explaining all the proceed and regulations.

Aiza was with a friend, Kartina, explaining her about the scanner.

Lunch time!

We headed outside, in front of Nikko Hotel. Forgot what it's called.. Kandar something! Anyway, Aiza said the maggie goreng was nice.

Omar joined us.

We did some sharing about the Galvanic Spa -still excited about it! He decided want to target the guys to do it! GReaT!

Well, gotta get back to showcase. Meet up with Siamy again. Get some advice from Sarah FC. Thanks for reminding me to focus, Sarah!

Now, driving towards MADE Bangsar's office. Siamy's supposed to conduct a Galvanic workshop, but if no one turns up, then we'll just have a private one.

And no one did show up. So, private workshop it is!
Oh, Omar's downline showed up.. to get her body gels, not for the workshop.

Killing time, we learn how to massage with the galvanic properly. Twas fun! Imagine doing it in a arisan? Hmm.

6pm Siamy gotta leave for AsiaWorks training.
So, she dropped us in Bangsar Village. (Thanks for everything!)

We decided to have our early dinner at DELIcious. Quite a nice place.
A place where young executive hang out. We saw a really good candidate for TRA. Coz, yikes! She is huge. But then, none decided to approach her. Maybe we were too tired.

Anyway, we had quite a meal.
Maybe that's why? hmm.

We just sat there for more then 3 hours. Ordering sponge cake, hot tea, etc.

Aiza's very excited about the shepard pie that she ordered, but then she was disappointed. Hehehe. Am just quite satisfied with my dish. Even though afterwards i still think it's too much.

Enuf is enuf. I'm full!!

7pm time to go to KL Sentral!
Bye KL!

The Gift of Opposition

Something I took from Leadership Journal.net
...which I think would help some issues...
*************************************************************************
I was thinking the other day about a class I took in seminary called "How to handle opposition, criticism, resistance, and passive-aggression." Come to think of it, I think I missed that course. The class I took was on source criticism, not criticism per se. Not that understanding source criticism hasn't been useful. I have new attenders coming up to me all the time to ask why J, D, P, and E couldn't all just get along.

Still, I think the other class would have been more useful.

Opposition is an inevitable reality of pastoral life. Not just spiritual opposition ("we wrestle not against flesh and blood"). Not just the intellectual opposition of Richard Dawkins/Daniel Dennet/Samuel Harris/Christopher Hitchens readers. I'm talking about friendly fire. The deacon board who votes to wish you a speedy recovery 13-12. The e-mail writer who wonders about your orthodoxy, theological literacy, or citation of unsafe authors. The helpful critic who wonders why you don't do more altar calls. The champion of worship/missions/children/evangelism/discipleship/prayer/stewardship/marriage/expository preaching/praisercize who wonders when you will get your priorities straight.

There are radically different temperaments when it comes to opposition response. It's been observed that Teddy Roosevelt required opposition in order to be fully energized. If he didn't have any opposition, he'd stir some up. Winston Churchill got bored by agreement. Criticism—from his own party, from the opposition, or from his nation's enemies—fueled him like a double espresso. When Hitler appeared, Churchill found the opponent he'd been waiting for his whole life. His finest hour was the courageous fight against a truly evil adversary.
Some leaders are not intimidated by opposition; they actually thrive on it. It wakes them up. It energizes them. It calls them to battle. It causes them to mobilize their thoughts and energy.

But not everybody.

Neville Chamberlain, for example, is historically associated with the word appeasement. "Peace in our time,' he said at Munich. He thought that if he could just give enough ground to Hitler, conflict could be avoided and everyone would be happy (except the Poles, the Czechs, the Austrians, and the Jews).

I wonder where you are on the Churchill—Chamberlain spectrum? My guess is that most pastors fall on the appeasement side.

I don't know that either temperament has a spiritual advantage. A friend of mine served as an elder in a church that hired a pastor who made General Patton look like he needed assertiveness training. But this did not mean the pastor was a fearless leader. It just meant he was an ego-centered stubborn little tyrant whose fated ended the same as Yertle the Turtle.
On the other side, I know a pastor in the southwest who has faced mean-spirited, ill-advised, bad-hearted opposition from a key lay leader for years. He's been trying appeasement the whole time (although he would not admit that even to himself). And it has cost him effectiveness, energy, joy, and self-respect.
I have given up the idea that there is an opposition-free church out there. But I have gained something else—an appreciation for the gift of opposition. When it comes, I learn something about my motives. When it comes, I get to test my courage. When it comes, the truth about my humility (or lack thereof) is revealed. When it comes, blind spots get exposed that would otherwise do damage. When it comes, I am given the opportunity to grow strong. When it comes, I discover that I am the opposition in more lives than I ever would have guessed.

And then I meet the force stronger than any opposition. The force that can call opponents a brood of vipers. The force that can also forgive opponents because "they know not what they do." In opposition, there is grace.

John Ortberg is editor at large of Leadership and pastor of Menlo Park (CA) Presbyterian Church.

Two Face??

Last night we did an interesting workshop, conducted by an expert from Hong Kong.

It's about a new device that's called Galvanic Spa.

I applied only half face for only 5 minutes.
And look!!!

My half face was lifted.
Can you see it??

Finally,
I took pics with my hosts a.k.a uplines!

Twas Sunday nite, after the Galvanic Spa workshop by Jessica and Janet. We went for dinner together near the apartment. Aiza was there too. Excited!
Wanna know something more amazing??
The guy who took the pic, was one of the waiter there.
He don't know how to operate the camera.
SO?
This happened a year ago also.
Same restaurant.
Probably another waiter?

Journey Starts!

The moment we put on our luggage, Howard has already create a list of plans.

First we need to have lunch, just at the Bukit Bintang area. Can choose anything we want, since there is no preferences. We decided to eat local Chinese Food. Tasted very yummy.

Next plan is, we are heading Batu Cave. We are going to do it like the locals, taking the bus. So, there's two type of bus that we're taking. A Utama (U) bus, and B-bus -totally forgot what the B stands for! The cool thing is, we just need to pay once for each bus, and we can ride free for the whole day. One bus ticket is RM 2. Cheap!

Of we go, heading Batu Cave.

We were just this close to get off the bus, since it's raining. Even just small drops. So, when the bus passes the bus stop, we just continue to take another round with it. Just in case the rain would stop.
So, there we are heading to the final post with this bus. At the end, apparently we still need to change buses, since there's another one queuing. OK then, no problem.

Only after I think 20 minutes, then I guess the bus started to take off. We did pass the same road that we came before. It goes by the residences. Interesting architecture. Too bad my batt is low, I can't take pictures. One thing Howard told me, is that these buses are allowed to stop anywhere if passengers wants to go off. But they are not allowed to pick up passengers anywhere they like. Should be at the bus stop.

Finally we arrived in Batu Cave. Still raining. We make a small stop in one of the mini market at the Batu Cave area, just to avoid the rains :)

Then, off we go, climbing up all the stairs, heading the top. 279 stairs it is!

Heading KL

This morning I'll be flying towards Kuala Lumpur..!

There were 6 of us: me, Dion, sunny, Eva, handy, tante piha.
Later on, Howard and Annie will be joining us in KL. They took Air Asia instead of Malaysian Air.
I was seated near a bapak who's been sleeping all the way. Hm. No chance to talk. At the back, Eva has already making friends with the girl across her, since she's sitting by herself.

On the other side, Sunny Dion and Handy were giggling all the way. Don't know what they're talking about, but seems fun.

Well then, never forget to pose!
Say Cheese!!

A Tribute

A simple tribute to Nancy Poh,
from BD Siamy Tan
(via text message)

Guys

when was the last time
someone who was in your space left,
and went to heaven?

BD Nancy Poh, BD Hock Seng's wife in Spore,
passed away @ 4.45am this morning,
for virus infection in the stomach.

She was a giving, loving woman,
a founding member of MADE
and made a huge differences to others around her,
in her quiet soft and humble presence.

Please take a moment to remember her.

God bless Hock Seng and her 3 daughters.

Yes, God bless Hock Seng and the kids!

"..when you walk, through the storm, hold your head up high, and don't be afraid of the dark, at the end of a storm there's a golden sky, and the sweat silver song of a lark. Walk on, through the wind, walk on through the rain, tho' your dream be tossed and blown. Walk on, walk on, with hope in your heart, and you'll never walk alone. You'll never walk, alone.."

Bye Nancy

Today was supposed to be just an ordinary day. Last nite planned to do all the regular stuffs, start calling and inviting for the next biz meeting.

But this morning was quite different.

It started with just one text message from my biz partner in Penang.
It was a sad news. We lost our beloved friend and biz partner in Sg. One humble and quite lady, Ms. Nancy Poh. It was quite a shocking news for all of us around the region, since first of all, she's only 43 years old, still active, no symptoms of any danger illness.

"...Dear Friends, Nancy Poh just passed away peacefully with her family by her side. Apparently a virus that started like stomach flu 2 days ago. Was admitted to A&E last nite, but she left us about 6 hours ago. Please pray for Hock Seng and the girls..."

"..Nancy had been having a flu since Monday. She vomited at Park Mall during the day (30 Jun, month-end closing). The following day she was too ill to attend the MADE Anniversary function. Last night (2 July) at 10pm, Hock Seng took her to the hospital to put her on a drip as she hadn't been eating well. Her blood pressure was low. The X-Ray showed an infection of the lung and further tests alarmed the doctors who then informed Hock Seng that the virus had attacked the heart and to prepare for the worst. By then Nancy was no longer conscious. He got his 3 girls to the hospital and they were all together when Nancy passed away peacefully at about 4.45am..."

"..Dear Friends, with a heavy heart I pass you the sad news that Hock Seng just lost his beloved wife Nancy.. I was just informed that Nancy passed away last night due to a viral infection. Our hearts go out to Hock Seng...
"

But then, God decide differently. Nancy had to go.

We'll missed you Nancy!

Thank you for making a difference in many people's lives.

A Scene on KFP

Today i went and watch Kung Fu Panda movie with Vera.
Luckily it's on week days, so not a lot of crowds, and even though it's still school holidays, but already passed bed times for kids.

I like the movie, since it was very very funny. Also shows that actually anyone can just do anything if they have the heart. Never say I CAN'T -still don't understand why people say that! You would be amazed in the ability that you have. You just haven't realized it. Try to focus on the things you enjoy (like food for Po!) and then work on the other things along.

The last scene of the movie when Po was lying with Master Shifu, after defeating Tai Lung was pretty hilarious. Reminds me of myself and some friends sometime ago in Bandung. They timed me, how long I can stand to keep quite. Apparently I can only stand still until the count of 10 :)

And then you can imagine what happened afterwards!!!
Damn!
